Ogden Police Make a Murder Arrest in Rural Alaska

Posted Thursday, May 9th 2013 @ 12pm

Stephen Ellenwood was only 20 when, Ogden Police say, he broke into a 92-year-old woman's retirement home to sexually assault and beat her.  Mae Odle died from her injuries, six days later.

Police say Ellenwood is also their prime suspect in a second sexual assault, which occurred just three hours after the first, and only two blocks away -- as the 57-year-old victim was attacked as she walked to a bus stop.

Ogden Police followed DNA evidence, all the way to rural Haines, Alaska, to arrest the suspect, who's now age 40.

He's being held in a Juneau jail, awaiting extradition.
