Small Fire Forces Utah County Elementary School Evacuation

Posted Thursday, December 12th 2013 @ 11am  by Talk Radio 105.7 FM / 570 AM

A FIRE SCARE THURSDAY MORNING -- FOR FREEDOM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS, AND THEIR PARENTS, IN HIGHLAND -- TURNED OUT TO BE ALMOST NOTHING.

FIRE OFFICIALS SAY A SMALL PIECE OF FOAM RUBBER BURNED -- IN THE SCHOOL'S MULTIPURPOSE ROOM -- CAUSING MUCH MORE SMOKE THAN FIRE.

JOHN PATTEN -- WITH THE ALPINE SCHOOL DISTRICT -- SAYS THE CAUSE IS STILL UNKNOWN.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES...BUT ABOUT 600 STUDENTS DID HAVE TO BE EVACUATED, FOR NEARLY AN HOUR, TO AN L-D-S CHURCH, ACROSS THE STREET.

DAMAGE IS ALSO MINIMAL.
