Utah National Parks Reopen Today

Posted Friday, October 11th 2013 @ 12pm  by Talk Radio 105.7 FM / 570 AM

GOVERNOR GARY HERBERT HAS WIRED MONEY -- FROM STATE TAXPAYERS -- TO UNCLE SAM, IN ORDER TO REOPEN OUR STATE'S NATIONAL PARKS.

THE MOVE COMES 12 DAYS AFTER THE SITES WERE CLOSED, BECAUSE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.

HERBERT IS THE FIRST GOVERNOR TO ACCEPT THE INTERIOR DEPARTMENT OFFER.  ARIZONA AND SOUTH DAKOTA OFFICIALS ARE STILL CONSIDERING IT, TO POSSIBLY REOPEN GRAND CANYON AND MOUNT RUSHMORE.

HERBERT SIGNED THE DEAL -- WITH INTERIOR SECRETARY SALLY JEWELL -- TO PROVIDE $167,000 A DAY, TO FUND THE FIVE NATIONAL PARKS, TWO MONUMENTS, AND GLEN CANYON NATIONAL RECREATION AREA.

STATE OFFICIALS ANTICIPATE BEING REIMBERSED FOR THE SPENDING, AFTER THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IS OVER.
