Vernal Airport Pot Bust Lands Pilot in the Slammer

A POLICE DOG -- IN NORTHEASTERN UTAH -- GOT A NOSE-FULL TUESDAY NIGHT, WHEN IT SNIFFED OUT NEARLY 200 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA, ABOARD A SMALL PLANE, AT THE VERNAL AIRPORT.

UINTAH COUNTY UNDERSHERIFF JOHN LAURSEN SAYS, THE PILOT WAS REFUELING... AND WAS ARRESTED AFTER FOUR DUFFEL BAGS FULL OF POT WERE FOUND.

RANDALL WATSON, 57, OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO, IS NOW JAILED, IN VERNAL.

UNDERSHERIFF LAURSEN CALLS IT THE LARGEST DRUG TRANSPORTATION BUST HE'S SEEN, IN 35 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT.

AUTHORITIES WERE TIPPED TO THE LOAD, BY HOMELAND SECURITY.
