A WEST VALLEY CITY WOMAN IS IN THE HOSPITAL TODAY -- WITH A BROKEN PELVIS AND TWO BROKEN ANKLES -- AFTER RISKING HER LIFE, TO TRY TO AVOID BEING ARRESTED, ON A FELONY ROBBERY CHARGE.

ROXANNE VIANUKU, WITH WEST VALLEY POLICE, SAYS THE INCIDENT BEGAN -- ABOUT 1:30 WEDNESDAY MORNING, NEAR 34TH SOUTH, 38TH WEST -- WHEN SOMEONE ALLOWED POLICE INTO THE THIRD FLOOR APARTMENT, WHERE JOSEPHINE MARTINEZ, 42, WAS HIDING.

AS THEY FORCED THEIR WAY INTO A LOCKED BEDROOM, POLICE SAW THE WOMAN JUMP FROM THE THIRD STORY WINDOW.

THE SUSPECT IS NOW IN STABLE CONDITION... AND WILL BE ARRESTED AS SOON AS SHE'S RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL.

IN ADDITION TO THE ROBBERY CHARGE -- FOR A GROCERY STORE SHOPLIFTING INCIDENT, LAST MONTH -- MARTINEZ WILL NOW ALSO FACE CHARGES FOR RESISTING ARREST AND FLEEING.
